Wee People After School Program
The Wee People After School Program is more then your ordinary after school program. The after school hours can be a time for your child to learn things other than reading, writing and math. Wee People’s After School Program will take into account children’s different interests and moods and will provide a wide range of activities for children to sample. At Wee People, your child will learn how to get along with other children and how to use free time happily, creatively, productively and safely. We strive for the best way for your child to spend their after school hours. We offer a state licensed program with trained staff that meet all state requirements.
We are proud to offer the GEMS Program. The GEMS program can make a significant, measurable difference and impact in the student’s learning. It improves student - teacher understanding and practice of inquiry. GEMS has demonstrated capability of reaching all students, including historically underrepresented groups, special education and gifted students, in a wide variety of settings and regions. It also fosters positive attitudes and motivation of students in science, mathematics and has considerable additional evidence of effectiveness and success.
Wee People After School Program offers, computer, art, dramatics, special programs, field trips and homework help. Private tutoring can be made available for an additional fee.
Wee People’s After School Program will help your child continue to grow socially, emotionally and physically. Our program provides a rich learning environment. This helps them do better in school and they are less likely to get in trouble. Wee People’s program works to build a link to the community and encourages service, enriching the entire community. You will be more productive and less anxious at work knowing your children are safe after school.
We support families by offering a safe, happy learning environment for the children. We include them in the planning of the after school program. We also hold family nights, parents nights out, and parent information nights. This is one way of reaching out to the community and providing the services the families need.
Our after school program is different from our early childhood program. It allows school age children greater independence to choose what interests them and to help in planning the activities they will enjoy, while supporting what is being covered in the classrooms. We believe this can help in the improvement of standardized test scores for the child. We coordinate with school administration and teachers to support the areas they feel need to be addressed in a fun, hands-on, out of school environment. Some examples of what we offer include field trips, guest speakers for areas of interest or subject areas being taught in the school, related games, computer software, crafts, and dramatics.
We have a highly trained staff who are required to attend continuing professional training in the field of education, child development, and health and safety. Wee People After School Program will participate in the self study program set up for after school programs in order to obtain an accreditation similar to the NAEYC accreditation we hold for our Pre School program.
