Wee People Kindergarten Program
The Kindergarten class meets daily from 9:00 to 3:00. Our low teacher to student ratio is one of the many reasons why we believe our Kindergartners excel academically and socially. This gives children a more individualized learning environment. When your child leaves Wee People and enters into the first grade, they will begin their journey into elementary education based on a strong foundation of goals that revolve around the areas of physical, emotional, cognitive and social skills. Our Kindergarten program is based on the basic skills needed to succeed throughout your child's academic journey. Language, reading, science and math are all included in our program. Wee People receives text book allotments from the Department of Education for each kindergarten child enrolled in the school year. Wee People receives Department of Education allotments for technology money and nursing services. We collaborate with the Somerset County Educational Services to provide child study team evaluations, speech services and special supplemental services for students if there is a need.
Real-life, hands-on activities using math concepts like measuring, patterns, counting along with money and time activities will prepare your child for the first grade. Our language and reading program is a comprehensive approach that integrates letter recognition, phonic, writing guided reading, studying, writing stories and poems. The study of New Jersey is one of the favorite areas of history and social studies that are introduced in this program. Daily journals are a part of the day to day program. We still believe that hands-on learning is the best way to learn about environments. Our science program expands on the pre K program by offering a more advance GEMS program using experiments and exploration in the areas the children would find interesting. Wee People recognizes the many cultures that make up our world today, so we have chosen to include the study of a foreign language in our curriculum. Children in our K programs will continue to build on the skills they have learned in the past like the introduction of body parts, songs, games and dance will be introduced into this program. The children will begin to study the customs of the Spanish culture and will study our neighbors to the south in Mexico.
Spanish Class, Music, and art all all areas of study your child will experience in this exceptional learning environment
