Mommy and Me

This program meets 1 or 2 times a week Parents attend with their child and begin an introduction into the pre school environment. Socialization and language development through play, arts and crafts, and age appropriate learning activities are the main focus in this program.

Two Year Old Program

Wee People's two year old program helps children to explore and discover the world around them. Our Teachers and assistants use their knowledge to reinforce language skills by reading, repeating, and song. Our two year old room is arranged to give them as much freedom to explore and learn, while still maintaining a safe environment. Free choice is encouraged in this room of young learners. Our teachers and assistants encourage children to explore and learn through small group, large group, and independent play. Here are some examples of what you may see going on in a Wee People two year old room.

BLOCK AREA: “Let’s build a town where my Daddy works”; “I want to build a road” “Miss Ashley can you help me count how high my blocks go?” These children are experimenting with physical relationship and developing their coordination.

SENSORY / SCIENCE : Bubbles are one tool you will always find in the science area. “Look at the colors I can pop it” Look how it floats into the air Up! UP! UP! It goes POP! Two’s love to ask WHY and the science and sensory area allow for this problem solving.

DRAMATIC PLAY : Two’s love to pretend, and there is no limit to their imagination. A blanket can become a tablecloth or your house, a banana a telephone, and an empty box will turn into just about anything.

ART: Next to the dramatic play area, this is probably the next best place to let your imagination run free. A splat of paint on a piece of paper, or a hodge podge of paper scrapes becomes as whole world to a two year old, just give them some supplies and let the go, the begin to ask questions, and sit back and listen to the answers.

LARGE MOTOR : Twos love to run and jump, even though they may not be that good at it. This area lets them try out new muscle groups, and will help to build strength and agility.

Wee People recognizes the many cultures that make up our world today, so we have chosen to include the study of foreign language in our curriculum. Our youngest students will enjoy learning songs and nursery rhymes in Spanish.
